And I came across this great story which I'm very fond of, a little girl who was in a drawing class. And her teacher said she normally didn't pay attention, but in the drawing class she did. It was a six year old kid. And she said she spent about 20 minutes huddled over this piece of paper. And the teacher went over to her and said, "What are you drawing?" And the girl said, "I'm drawing a picture of God.” And the teacher said, "But nobody knows what God looks like." And the girl said, "They will in a minute." I love that.

Science is no more than an investigation of a miracle we can never explain, and art is an interpretation of that miracle.

Marriage can be a religious thing. It can also be a secular thing. And guess what? Not everyone in the world is of the same religion. Preventing gay people from getting married is not an expression of religious freedom. It’s an expression of religious oppression. ‘Cause in the religion of the gay people getting married, presumably their god thinks it’s okay. And you are oppressing them.

C'est très beau là-bas.

God used to be the best explanation we’d got, and now we’ve got vastly better ones. God is no longer an explanation of anything, but has instead become something that would itself need an insurmountable amount of explanation. Isn’t it enough to see that a garden is beautiful without having to believe there are fairies at the bottom of it too?
